But not all tanning lamps are alike.

There are many different kinds of brands and intensities of bulbs that are used to line tanning capsules and booths. Many units come with manufacture’s directions that recommend which tanning bed bulbs best suit the operation of the machine. For instance, not all tanning beds are equipped to use both UVA and UVB ray lamps. Many newer tanning beds use bulbs that emit more UVA rays. Some high pressure tanning beds emit 99% UVA rays.

The average life of a tanning bed lamp is estimated to be between 800 to 1000 hours but this longevity may vary depending on whether or not you purchased discount bulbs or used bulbs. Tanning lamps operate at their peak strength for the first 150 to 200 hours of use. After that, the strength of the bulb is thought to drop in intensity until they are devoid of tanning power.

Owners of commercial tanning beds who want to continue to offer a quality service may want to consider changing their bulbs frequently so that their customers can consistently optimize their tan. It is also recommended that all of the bulbs be changed at once so that a customer does not achieve an uneven tan as a result of bulbs operating at varying strengths.

The rule of thumb is “the newer the tanning bed lamp”, the better the tan.
This is also true for consumers who might want to ask salon owners how frequently the bulbs are changed in their tanning beds.

Basic information on lamps: Tanning lamps are long fluorescent tubes that contain inert gases. Their surface is coated with phosphorus and traces of mercury. Electricity ignites the gases in the tubes, which causes the mercury atoms to release energy in the form of ultraviolet light. The amount of UV rays that a person is exposed to is determined by the thickness of the phosphorus coating on the bulb. The coating can be manipulated to allow the bulb to emit more of one kind of ray (such as a UVB ray) than another (such as a UVA ray.)

Wolff Systems Technologies, is the company credited most often for the pioneering of tanning bed bulbs. Their website offers all kinds of discount tanning bulbs, as well as tanning bulbs for newer and older tanning unites including the Bellarium, the Eurosun, the Everglo, the Dominion Pad and the Crystal Sun. The average cost of a replacement tanning bulb is about $14.00. These bulbs are manufactured for Wolff by Sylvania.

The tanning bed dangers debate has been raging for some while now in both the cosmetic and health industries, with the health industry claiming that the risks of skin cancer are the same if you use a tanning bed as they are if you sunbathe frequently*.

Inside A Tanning Salon

It seems, however, that the dangers of tanning beds are lessening somewhat.

Some salons are now claiming that their tanning equipment will emit less or even no harmful UVB rays and are offering more limited exposures to the ultraviolet light than what might be experienced outdoors in the natural sunlight. It’s claimed that these timed tanning sessions will help minimize any health risks compared to tanning outdoors.

UVB rays are short-wave ultraviolet rays that affect the outer layers of the skin. These are known commonly as the “burning rays”. UVA rays, which are the longer wave ultraviolet rays, can penetrate the skin much deeper and these are less likely to cause severe burning.

UVA rays make up the majority of UV which is emitted both from the sun and also from tanning bed bulbs.

Before the harmful effects of UVB were known, back in the 70’s and 80’s, tanning beds used a larger percentage of UVB in their bulbs than is used today. However, with the increase in both government regulations and wider knowledge about the tanning bed dangers, including damage caused to skin by UVB rays, many tanning beds today have less UVB in the bulbs and more UVA which helps make indoor tanning comparatively safer than it was 20 years’ ago.

It’s been argued that the argument against the many dangers of tanning beds is that a visit to a salon will expose an individual to the rays for only a specified amount of time, whereas exposure to the sun isn’t always restricted.

It’s vital that employees of tanning salons should fully understand the dangers of tanning beds as well as the benefits, and also take into account their client’s age, medical history, skin type and the amount of previous exposure. This important information should be used to calculate the recommended safe number of minutes’ exposure on the tanning bed. Such control outdoors is almost impossible to achieve, where the many changes of seasons, altitudes and reflective surfaces make levels of UVB fluctuate constantly.

Over the last decade, many tanning bed owners have thankfully become more aware of the relationship between ultraviolet rays and cancer and tanning equipment that emits mostly UVA rays are more likely to be found in salons today. Warnings are still issued, however, of the link between UVA light and malignant melanoma (an extremely dangerous type of skin cancer, characterized by moles).

Any long-term exposure to either natural sunlight or artificial sources of UV light, such as tanning beds, may create pre-cancerous conditions on the skin cells. Basal cell and squamous cell cancers are both thought to be caused by a combination of UVB and UVA rays and melanoma, sometimes a fatal form of skin cancer, is thought to be triggered by over-exposure to UVA rays.

You should remember that sitting outdoors in the sun carries the same, and potentially more risks as the tanning bed dangers discussed above, and if you’re at all concerned about the dangers of using tanning beds you should ensure that you choose a salon which uses modern equipment specializing in tanning with mostly UVA rays.

*Due your own due diligence before using a tanning bed and ask your doctor if a tanning bed is right for you and your skin type and lifestyle.

A quality spray tanning booth or self applied tanning spray is the only way to go. A cheap option can result in an orange or streaky tan.

We will cover all the questions we get, and if you have more please let us know by posting your question here.

How Long Does a Spray Tan Last?

It can last anywhere from 3 days to 10 days depending on how much you exfoliate, and what activities you engage in. For example, if you have really dry skin, your session will only last for 3-4 days and it may be splotchy.

Inside The Mystic Tan Spray Tan Booth

Using a quality exfoliate prior to your spray tanning session, and applying a quality hydrating lotion is highly recommended.

How long to shower after a spray (Mystic) tan?

You should wait 6 hours. Sometimes 4 is enough depending on how fast it dries. To play it safe, wait 6 – 8 hours.

How Often Can I Do a Spray On Tan?

You can do it as much as you want, but more then twice a week is really not necessary.

Where to get mystic tan the cheapest?

Read this article on getting cheap tanning bed lotions.

How to remove spray self tanning solution from hands?

The best way to spray self tanning solution from your hands is to shower, wash yourself as usual, and then try using baking soda and water. Read the directions on your spray bottle or cream.

The manufacturer may have a spray tan remover for sale as well. Call a salon or look on Ebay for Mystic Spray Tan Touch Up spray.

How to Prepare?

There are several things to consider before your spray tanning session. The more important ones are to use an exfoliate before your session, and to use lotion after your session (but not before). Click here for specific tips, and what you need to know about it.

What happens if I shower too soon? It will either wash away altogether, but most likely it will streak and be blotchy. A touch up spray is highly recommended to extend and touch up any light spots.

How to remove mistakes? See the answers to the question How to remove it (tanning solution/spray) from hands’. The other tanning tip is to use a touch up spray and/or jump into tanning bed for a few sessions to help even out and make your tan look nice (high pressure beds are best).

What Is The Best Spray Tanning Product I Can Apply Myself?

Below we have listed the most popular uv free spray on tanning products (that you apply yourself) based upon our own experience and recommendations from others.

Mystic Tan Sunless Face and Body Tanning Spray:

The best selling spray tanning product, self tanner. Great for touching up or instantly tanning parts of your body. Size: 4oz.

Mystic Tan is the best UV-Free spray tan product on the market. You get a true golden brown color and won’t turn orange! Make sure that you do the following prior to applying any spray tan product:

Exfoliate your skin: good skin preparation is important to achieving a balanced, even looking tan. Use a quality exfoliant gel, like Mystic Tan’s Exfoliant, that will remove the dead skin cells on the surface but won’t dry out your skin.

Don’t put any oil-based lotions on prior to your session: if you use a moisturizer every day, you may want to consider not using before doing your spray tan or Mystic session. Oils in the lotion can block the solution from penetrating your skin evenly, so results can appear blotchy or uneven if you do.

Wear loose fitting clothing afterwards, and don’t shower or exercise for at least 6 hours: for best results, don’t wear tight clothing or it may rub off on your clothes and make your tan uneven. Also, avoid showering or going to gym for at least 4-6 hours, and the longer the better for maximum results and a lasting tan!

And you can’t go wrong because these are proven to be the best uv free spray tanning products on the market, and they are tested…tested by us and others who love them! (And you will too).

Most people looking for a tanning bed will be shocked to discover how much there is to know about tanning beds. Tanning beds are not to dealt with lightly, in terms of shopping for a tanning bed and price comparison.

Tanning bed, Goggles, and a Towel

For example, you really get what you pay for in a tanning bed. Mainly, you need to figure out your tanning goals. Are you getting a tanning bed
for your home, or to start a business. Because the two are significantly different in terms of the types of tanning beds you should consider.

A home tanning bed should be a reliable high quality tanning bed, in our opinion. Because you will not want to deal with one that breaks down all the time, and this happens often with cheap tanning beds.

A business should consider their costs of running their business, what the demographics are in their area, and what customers will pay for before spending lots of money on tanning beds.

If you are looking for tanning beds for sale and you want one in your home, we recommend looking at name brand, high quality tanning beds, and going with middle of the line or higher (be sure you educate yourself on tanning, uv rays, and skin care before you get a tanning bed. You don’t want to burn, and you don’t want to over due it.

We recommend you see a doctor and get their recommendation too.

There are many tanning bed manufacturers. The top of the line manufacturers are Sun Ergoline, Tan America, Tansees, Wolf, and maybe PCMarketing tanning beds. All of Sun Ergoline are very good tanning beds. Even their lowest line.

Wolf tanning beds are good beggining at their mid level tanning beds. We do
not recommend Tan Americas lowest line bed, but all of their other beds are
very good. We don’t know much about the rest.

You should consider getting at least a 32 bulb tanning bed. 26 bulb tanning
beds are not even being made anymore (and if they are, don’t buy from that manufacturer).

Luxury Tanning Bed With Facials

You may want to consider some used tanning beds for sale too. One of the best places to look for tanning beds is Ebay because you have some safeguard in terms of reviewing the feedback of each seller. Be careful and make sure they are legitimate and have good feedback. We have created a list below of the tanning beds for sale on Ebay. This is automatically refreshed in real time…

This tanning bed video and the tips listed below are not intended to give medical advice. It is not intended as a substitute for professional advice.

It’s No Secret…

A nice tan makes you look and feel healthier, and can even make you appear 10 pounds thinner. And there are benefits you can derive from tanning, contrary to what naysayers are saying.

Lets Begin…

Tanning Bed Tip #1:

Tan Moderately. Tanning too often can and will speed up the aging process and potentially cause other skin ailments over a period of time.

Tip #2

Build a base tan. Go 5 days per week for the first 2 weeks. Go for several minutes for lighter skin. More for dark skin. It all depends on skin type…

Tip #3:

Ask a Smart Tan Certified Tanning Consultant how many minutes are right for you.

Tip #4:

Do not burn or get pink. If this occurs you have damaged your skin.

Tip #5:

Slightly increase your minutes on the tanning bed after you get a base tan. Go 2-3 times per week for maintenance once you reach your optimal color. Go even less if you tan in a stronger bed.

Tip #6:

Wear eye goggles at all times. UV rays can severely damage your eyes. Buy your own. Sharing goggles that are not cleaned properly can cause serious skin problems.

Tip #7:

To avoid getting creases or pressure tanning lines, you should move your limbs into different positions during your session. Tanning beds are now designed so you don’t have to flip.

Tip #8:

Avoid wearing make-up, deodorant, or other perfumes prior to tanning.

Tip#9:

Use an indoor tanning lotion to get a deeper, darker, long lasting tan. Use a bronzer to get darker faster. Do not use outdoor lotion.

Tip #10:

Exfoliate prior to your tanning sessions. A shower and exfoliant is fine.

Tip #11:

Again…Tan moderately. You do not have to go often, and for long periods of time.

Every person’s skin type is different, and every salon has different types of tanning beds with varying intensity levels…

Consult with your local tanning salon for a skin type analysis (from a Smart Tan Certified Tanning Consultant) so you can get a good idea of where to start.

The data they studied which shows that tanning beds and skin cancer are closely related…in other words tanning beds will increase your risks of skin cancer, is old.

I am not saying that you won’t get skin cancer from tanning in a tanning bed. You will definitely increase your risks if you tan in a tanning bed frequently, and not take care of your skin.

You must tan in moderation and do not burn. Tan in high level tanning beds that emit mostly UVA. Old tanning beds and cheap beds emit mostly UVB which is the burning ray.

Tanning in moderation actually has benefits! Imagine that. The World Health Organization doesn’t seem to want to point that out. If you are doubtful watch the video and read the related articles below…

Like I said tanning beds and cancer are related, if you over do it, and you are tanning in cheap low level tanning beds frequently. However, tanning in a tanning bed in moderation has benefits. More than just looking good and looking healthy.

Did you know that there is a vitamin D deficiency epidemic? Why do you need Vitamin D? How do you get it…the best way? Read this…

Tanning Beds and Skin Cancer Part 2:

There are benefits from tanning in a tanning bed. One of these benefits is vitamin D production:

Sun Burn

The fact is, you are less likely to burn if you have a base tan. Apparently, tanning and vitamin d have a lot to do with reducing cancer…certain types of cancer! This is a huge breakthrough that Dermatoligists are not happy about. Also referred to as the sunshine vitamin, vitamin d is produced naturally as a result of exposure to UV.

The tanning industry has been getting hit hard by the anti tanning agenda, and the media has gone along with them. But, as you will see two recent studies are going under the radar which put them in their place…

According to Globe & Mail, “A four year clinical trial involving 1,200 women found those taking the vitamin (D) had about a 60-percent reduction in cancer incidence, compared with those who didn’t take it, a drop so large — twice the impact on cancer attributed to smoking — it almost looks like a typographical error.” Another study found that getting Vitamin D naturally by exposing skin to UV light was better than using supplements.

Tanning and Skin Cancer Part 3:

Tanning And Vitamin D: The Sunshine Vitamin Helps Prevent MS?

An abundance of Vitamin D seems to help prevent multiple sclerosis, according to a study in more than 7 million people that offers some of the strongest evidence yet of the power of the “sunshine vitamin” against MS. The research found that white members of the U.S. military with the highest blood
levels of vitamin D were 62 percent less likely to develop multiple sclerosis than people with low levels.

This is good news for the tanning industry, but please don’t use this as an excuse to ‘over tan’. By the way. There’s more to read. For links to the full story on each study, go to…

The Sunshine vitamin D — reduces
risk of debilitating disease?

Tanning And Vitamin D Reduces Chances Of Getting Cancer?

Breakthrough Video From NBC!!! Must See…described what dermatologists don’t want you to know.

Is a tanning bed a good source of vitamin d?

You bet. UV exposure causes your body to produce vitamin d naturally. You might even see new tanning beds titled: tanning bed vitamin d in the near future. That’s how big this story is. Frankly we are shocked that the media has reported on it. They have been really hard on the tanning industry because they have only been listening to dermatologists (in our opinion).

In our opinion, tanning beds are better than the sun. See the video above. Because if you go out in the sun, you will lose track of time and end up getting burned. Burning is a no no. But a tanning bed is a measurable amount of time, and you are being consulted by a (hopefully) professional.

Tanning and vitamin d are a good thing in small measurable doses. So now you can build your tan slowly, and fight cancer with the sunshine vitamin!

There are many self tanning products on the market today and all promise to be the best. Your main concern needs to be how well the tanner is going to work because in the end it is the results that really matter. You don’t want to turn orange, get uneven tanning streaks, and splotches.

Unfortunately many self tanners simply do not work or will give you unsatisfactory results. Taking some time to really look at your options can save you a great deal of money.

Also you can save yourself the embarrassment of having a horrible looking tan that is obviously fake. Keep in mind that with self tanning products you usually get what you pay for so it may be worth spending the extra money to get a quality product that will give you the results you desire.

Once you have considered the sunless tanning products effectiveness and price, you should look into the ease of the process in which you have to apply and use it.

If the process of getting a great looking tan takes more time than you are going to be able to commit to, you may not want it.

Self tanning products need to be applied as directed so if you rush this process or skip steps all together because you are in a hurry, you will not get great results no matter how superb the product is.

Here are five tips on how to properly use self tanning lotion so that you get great results every time:

It is important before you use a sunless tanning product to know how it works. These lotions and sprays give you a tan by adhering to the top layer of skin and drying there. Since you skins is continually in a process of dying and shedding, these products only work for a week or less before they need to be reapplied. You can help your tan to last longer by keeping your skin well moisturized because dry skin will shed at a much faster rate.

Exfoliating all of the skin that the sunless tanner will be applied to is essential when using a sunless tanning product. You can do so with a loofah, pumice brush or a product made to exfoliate. You should pay extra attention to your knees and elbows to avoid these areas from soaking up a disproportionate amount of lotion and turning orange. After you exfoliate be sure to properly moisturize your skin, once again giving special attention to the knees and elbows. Do not use lotions that are oil based though because they will interfere with the process of the self tanner soaking into the skin

You should be able to devote at least 30 minutes to preparing for the application of the self tanner and make sure that when apply you get even, thorough coverage. This may entail getting assistance with places you can not reach such as your back.

Be sure to cover any area you do not want tanned. To avoid getting the lotion in you hair use a shower cap but leave out your ears. Use gloves on your hands or be sure to wash them immediately after use. You only need a very light amount on your hands and feet but you should not apply it to the heels of your feet at all. You want them to match the rest of your body but not turn orange

Do not shower, go swimming or get your body wet for at least 4 to 6 hours after applying the lotion. Waiting twenty four hours is recommended if possible because it takes this long for full results to be seen.

The best daily self tanner is Mytic Tan’s Sunless Body Enhancing Moisturizer.

Not to be confused with regular self tanning, daily self tanning products put a lot of emphasis on moisturizing, and providing a healthy looking glow to your skin, while regular self tanners have more immediate and sometimes dramatic results…

Mystic tan has been the leader is spray tan and self tanning products since the very beginning. Their flagship product began as a spray tan booth. From there they quickly became, and continue to be, one of the best spray on tan and self tanning product companies in the world.

10 years ago, self tanning products were a huge risk. You didn’t know what
you were getting. ‘Am I orange?’. ‘What is all this streaking?’ You would say.
But now, many of the manufacturers of self tanning lotions and spray’s have mastered the coloring. A self tan is now the most popular salon treatment in the UK, and it’s rapidly spreading through the US (the UK has been about 10 years ahead of the US in terms of the indoor and self tanning products industry).

As a result of the popularity of sunless tanning products, Self tanning lotions
and tanning spray’s are coming out in droves. The manufacturers tout their amazing tanning benefits. But many are a large waste of time. The following self tanners are our current best recommendations:

First Place: Sunless Body Enhancing Moisturizer.

Second Place: DermaQuest Self Tanning Products. Excellent Results, Easy To Apply, Quick Dry.

A VERY Close Third: Fake Bake Self Tanning Spray. Read Below for why we chose DermaQuest and Fake Bake.

DermaQuest Skin Therapy DermaGlow Self Tanner – Body

DermaQuest Skin Therapy DermaGlow Self Tanner – Face

Fake Bake Instant Self-Tanning Spray

Fake Bake Sunless Self-Tanning
Mousse

XEN-TAN Deep Bronze Instant Self-Tan

Peter Thomas Roth Natural Looking
Self Tanner

Jan Marini Bioglycolic Sunless
Self Tanner

Fake Bake Self Tanner

Fake Bake Anti-Aging Facial Self
Tanner

DermaQuest makes great products. They are easy to apply. Very reasonably priced, and you can get almost every little bit of the self tanner without being messy. Plus, their specialty facial sunless tanning product is a perfectly supplement. Most self tanning companies don’t make it for the face because it requires different ingredients and therefore more production costs.

Fake Bake Self Tanning Spray is really good. You can use it as a touch up, and it’s fast. We chose Fake Bake as a second place only because it can be a
bit messier, but not by very much. You could say they tied for first with DermaQuest.

The other self tanning products listed are very good as well, and you might have a different opinion as to what is better for you. So you can’t go wrong if you chose any of them. However, if you want something that dries fairly quickly, is easy to apply, and looks really good, I recommend starting with DermaQuest or Fake Bake.

Quality self tanning products generally will not come in a large sized bottle. The ingredients and manufacturing of the lotions are quite expensive. But fortunately, you don’t need a whole lot of self tanning solution (lotion) to get you tan. The self tanning lotions and sprays above are very good, and you won’t be disappointed. If you have a recommendation please use the ‘Contact Us’ button on the right to let us know.

Have a great day, and keep a healthy looking tan. You deserve it!

If you want cheap indoor tanning lotion…or good indoor tanning lotion cheap…I have a really unique way to find it from a reliable source for anywhere from 50%-70% off!

Now, before I show you please understand that this is not a way to trick you into buying something or some silly gimmick. This is the real thing. Let me explain.

I have a friend who is very ‘techie’ and knows nothing about tanning beds or indoor tanning lotion. In other words, he spends all his time with software programs and he loves to engineer and figure things out…

What he figured out recently is no big deal to him really, but it is to us! He found a back door way into Amazon.com’s system to find deals on specific products.

So I had him create links to find cheap indoor tanning lotion. It’s totally legit too! But Amazon doesn’t want you to know about it because they would rather you bought products are higher prices.

If you want to skip the ‘how and why’ here are the links. Otherwise skip the links and keep read…

Search For Cheap Indoor Tanning Lotion:

50% Off

60% Off

70% Off

As you will see you can’t search on Amazon.com for cheap indoor tanning lotion at specific percentages off. But now you can because these links were engineered to find discount indoor tanning lotions at specific percentages off. There is no other way to do it.

There may or may not be anything available at these deep discounts, but the only way to find out is to custom build a special link using my ‘techie’ guys technique.

As you will see, there are more items available at 50% than 60 and 70 percent off. Nothing at 80%.

So, here are the links:

Find Discount Tanning Bed Lotion Now:

50% Off

60% Off

70% Off

Prices on cheap indoor tanning lotion on Amazon.com will change and so will the products, so you can come back to this page and check anytime you want. Share it!

If there is anything else other than tanning bed lotion you are interested in searching on Amazon.com at 50, 60, or even 70 percent off let us know and I’ll have my guy create the link if enough people want a particular item.

There are almost as many kinds of tanning bed lotions as there are desserts in a bakery. Many of them are customized to contain certain popular ingredients. These include moisturizers, fragrances, vitamins, botanical extracts, anti-aging ingredients, minerals sunscreens as well as chemicals that link to proteins in the skin to darken the tan with each application.

There are quite a few tanning bed lotions to be found at various beauty supply and drug stores, but cheap tanning lotions produce cheap results, and in the long term, you are actually losing money (and a good tan!). Typically, indoor tanning bed solutions are more expensive as they are considered to be designer concoctions, and the ingredients are of higher grade, which is better for your skin, gives you a deeper darker tan, and it last much longer.

So if you want cheap indoor tanning bed lotions that are of high quality,
it may be difficult unless you are a salon owner who gets wholesale prices on
indoor tanning lotions. Wholesale prices are basically the ability to get any
lotion from a manufacturer to re-sell in a tanning salon. In other words, tanning salon owners get get a discount on indoor tanning bed lotions.

CaliforniaTan (one of our top selling brands in our salon) offers a variety of indoor tanning bed solutions that are typical of the kinds of blends that are
being customized for tanning bed clients by many companies. Their products combine many anti-aging and skin firming ingredients such as Phyto-age and copper is for customers who want a deep tan but are concerned about wrinkles.

For those who want a dark tan fast, Cal Tan’s Hempology line is excellent and contains tan accelerators as well as bronzing agents and exotic fragrances.

To obtain wholesale prices on indoor tanning lotions you must go through an authorized distributor. You will be asked about the details of your business and whether or not you own a tanning salon. If you do not, you will not get discount tanning bed lotions.

Tanning lotions sales over the Internet are largely illegal since most tanning
lotion manufacturers like Designer Skin, California Tan, and Supre only want
authorized salons selling and distributing their lotions. Salon owners are not
even allowed to sell discount indoor tanning lotions on their own web sites!

The best way to choose a tanning bed lotion is to try samplers at our salon, or a salon near you, to find out if you like the results. Often many salons, including ours, offer promotions so you can get discount indoor tanning lotions rather than paying full retail price. For example, at our salon we allow the sampler price to be put toward the actual product. So if you get a sample of Cal Tan Hempology for $5, you can put that $5 toward a bottle of Hempology if you purchase the bottle within 24 hours from your visit.

Ask your salon if you can apply the amount you pay for a sampler toward a bottle purchase. If you don’t plan to tan very often, you can buy the samples which may be considerably cheaper than buying an entire bottle. Hopefully you have learned a bit about discount indoor tanning bed lotions and how to get wholesale prices on indoor tanning lotions. If you want to learn more about the tanning industry and indoor tanning lotions, please read the articles below and to the left on the NAV bar.

Discount Indoor Tanning Lotion Price Check…

Here’s a recommendation on cheap indoor tanning lotion and where to buy it based upon a thorough review of several indoor tanning lotion websites.

What I did was search for pricing on two different tanning salon lotions. One is a fairly current lotion, the other has been around for some time and is one of my favorites.

The top four discount indoor tanning bed lotion sources are:

Cheap Indoor Tanning Lotion on Amazon.com

Discount Lotion on Ebay

Tanning Lotion Source (not recommended unless you don’t like Amazon or Ebay)

Half Price Tanning Lotion (Basically the same store as Tanning Lotion Source)

Here Is How I Came Up With That List:

The first tanning bed lotion I searched for was California Tan X Power Step 2 (Step 1 is good too). It’s been around for a while and is very good (my favorite).

California Tan X Power Step 2 Maximizer Prices:

$38.38 Amazon

$38.95 Tanning Lotion Source

$38.95 Half Price Lotions

Next I chose Millennium Back In Blaque to search for pricing on discount indoor tanning lotion because at the time of this tanning lotion review it’s new.

Millennium Back In Blaque – Ultra 8x Bronzer Prices:

$29.95 Half Price Lotions

$33.95 Tanning Lotion Source

$27.95 Amazon

Before you jump on the lowest prices consider a few things…

How much is shipping? At TanningLotionSource and HalfPriceLotions it’s around $5.46 (for one lotion). But if you become a customer, you’ll get email alerts about deals on tanning salon lotions and they are constantly offering FREE shipping. But they don’t advertise it on their site very often for new customers (it seems).

It’s free on Amazon.com if you are a Prime Member (you pay an annual fee to get free shipping on many products and services). Otherwise it’s quite high. Comparable to TanningLotionSource and HalfPriceLotions.

Sales Support For Discount Indoor Tanning Lotion?

The support for TanningLotionSource and HalfPriceLotions was quick via Email. The toll free number was a recording.

At Amazon.com you can see what people are saying about indoor tanning lotions, and you can rate the businesses you buy from. I like this aspect very much, and returning or exchanging is easy because the vendors don’t want bad ratings.

However, returning lotions, getting replacements, and dealing with refunds etc. is not easy with TanningLotionSource and HalfPriceLotions. Since Amazon.com is such a huge resource, and since they actually help the small business owner rather than try to crush them like Walmart and Target, go to Amazon for peace of mind and low prices.

Discount Indoor Tanning Bed Lotion Pricing?

On Amazon.com for tanning bed lotion, pricing has a tendency to adjust faster than on TanningLotionSource and HalfPriceLotions. This is because Amazon.com scans pricing amongst vendors and notifies them when they DON’T have the lowest price so that they can fight for the lowest pricing, therefore driving pricing down.

Overall, I like Amazon.com because of the faster response times on every level, and quality customer policies. Ebay is a close second and they seem to be consistent with low prices, and since they have a review process as well you’ll get good customer service. But be sure to check shipping prices on Ebay as well as if the lotion has not been used in any way.

Notes On Buying Cheap Indoor Tanning Lotion:

Buying discount indoor tanning bed lotion and regular tanning lotion online can sometimes be a gamble if you don’t know where to shop. Why? Because you don’t know if the indoor tanning lotion shopping site is selling sealed lotions…

Many of the sites are owned by tanning salon owners. But they will never tell you that. And they will never tell you what the name and location of their salon is. Because they are not allowed to sell deeply discounted indoor tanning lotion online.

If the lotion manufacturer discovers who they are, they will be put on a ‘do not sell’ list and will be blacklisted by the lotion wholesalers. So it’s a little bit shady.

But the other reason you should be careful about who you buy cheap indoor tanning lotion from online is that since many of these sites are owned by tanning salon’s, sometimes they put lotions for sale online that have been used, or they fill up an old bottle with indoor tanning lotion. So you are not really getting a fresh bottle.

Or, they are selling old stock lotions that were sitting on a shelf for a long time.

This is not the case with every site. And many of them are selling new lotions.

My top discount indoor tanning lotion source is:

Opening A Tanning Salon

This article on opening a tanning salon may help you save some time, money, and aggravation before you open a new salon. Here’s what this is about…

The tanning business is an attractive opportunity for anyone with money to spend on a new retail business. But you have to go about opening a new tanning salon with the utmost care.

SIDE BAR: The following is article is our opinion, and you should do your own due diligence and research outside of the tips and suggestions below. With that said…

How To Open A Tanning Salon: Here’s 6 Common Mistakes Salon Owners Make As They Open A Tanning Salon…

1. Competition is fierce. 10 years ago, opening a tanning salon was much easier. You could find cheaper rent, buy cheap tanning beds, throw up some walls, and put a school desk in your lobby as your front desk, and make a decent living in the tanning business. But not anymore. Tanning salons are popping up all over, and even more are going out of business. The ones who are going out of business are the mom and pop businesses that are not reinvesting in the salons.

2. Cheap Equipment. Opening a tanning salon today requires a solid investment in all aspects of your business. You can’t survive on cheap equipment anymore. You have to build a salon that will scare anyone from wanting to compete with you. Otherwise, if you have a low to mid level tanning salon and you are surviving or even making decent living, you are a target. You have to spend money on high end equipment like Sun Ergoline, Sol Tron, Sun Ergoline, some UWE beds, and other very good manufacturers. But don’t spend money an any high end equipment just to compete. You have to invest in tanning equipment that appeals to your clientele. This is very important in opening a tanning salon that has the best chance of success. For example, you don’t want to invest in a line of tanning beds that are attractive to very young people if you demographic (in your area) is 28-45.

3. No theme or a low class theme. You should consider basing your salon around a theme that appeals to your target audience. See #2 above. A salon without a theme is without character. People like to go places that make them feel comfortable, appeals to their senses, and interesting at the same time.

4. Poor location. Location is very important. Most newbie salon owners opening a tanning salon will base their decision on price, and not consider that return on investment. When opening a new tanning salon, be sure you find a very good location that is: visible, easy to access, and has good parking.

5. Guess Pricing. See what your competition is charging for similar services, and price yours accordingly. But don’t low ball if your competition is a low-baller, and they have a ghetto tanning salon. If you salon is high end, and your competition is not, (and your demographics support your high end salon), charge higher prices. But if you competition is right there with you in terms of quality, make your prices agreeable.

6. Bad Marketing. Most salon owners don’t have a clue as to how to design marketing pieces that bring people in the door. Study direct response marketing, and apply it to your business. Here’s one marketing tip: it’s not about you and how great your salon is, it’s about the prospective customer.

Opening a tanning salon has many challenges. There are many more obstacles and roadblocks you have to overcome if you want to open a successful tanning salon. The former owners of this web site wrote a fantastic home study course on opening a tanning salon and managing it. It’s called Tanning Salon Secrets.

But don’t expect a beautiful text book. This is real guide written by real salon owners, and it’s self published in a three ring binder. However, the content is more than you can ask for.

Last tip on how to open a tanning salon: Don’t listen to people who have never opened a salon. And never listen to someone who is selling a 19 dollar book on the subject who has never owned one. These people are working in their basement, trying to get you to open your wallet because they know opening a tanning salon is a tough thing to do, and they are preying upon your demand for information on the subject. Invest in your knowledge, and build your knowledge from real business owners, tanning salon owners, and pay your dues. It will all be worth it in the end.

Good luck opening a tanning salon!

About SAD, or Seasonal Affective Disorder: Science tells us that a lack of light (or exposure to the UV rays) causes our bodies to produce melatonin, which is a hormone that makes you want to sleep.

In winter, it’s obviously cooler, and the days are significantly shorter. As a result, some people begin to experience reduced energy, and even depression. It has been proven that reduced exposure to light causes the pineal gland to produce a hormone (melatonin) that causes one to want to sleep. What does this have to do with seasonal affective disorder? We’re getting there…

Since the sun is not out as often, and because the days are shorter, our bodies react as described above and we become sleepy. But this reaction to less light is not specific to the winter months. Those of us who are stuck in an office all day, or prefer to stay indoors, can experience the same effects.

But they are usually not quite as severe.

With that said, it gets a little more complicated. According to studies, serotonin (a neurotransmitter), is produced at opposing times as meltonin. Seratonin helps our body in many ways, such as temperature, blood pressure, and even appetite, memory, and even mood events. Metatonin is not produced at the same time as Seratonin. But when Melatonin is produced, Seratonin is significantly inhibited.
And reduced levels of Seratonin has been said to cause nasty ailments such as chronic fatigue syndrome, mood swings, and it may even cause depression.

Seasonal Affective Disorder…

Apparently a link has been discovered between Seratonin and Melatonin and Seasonal Affective Disorder …otherwise known as SAD. Signs of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) may be depression, weight gain, irritability, headaches, joint pain, sleep issues and more. The primary cause of SAD is said to be caused as a result of not getting enough sunlight. Science has proven that sunlight can increase Seratonin levels, and increased the production of vitamin D. Vitamin D has many uses, but the one of important here is that it is a mood enhancer (for lack of a better description).

If you have ever experienced an better mood and increased energy as a result of a tanning session at a tanning salon, then you have probably experienced the effects UV has on increasing your seratonin and vitamin D levels. And this is probably a good thing! But obviously you shouldn’t get overexposed. Too much UV is a bad thing.

But moderate exposure may be a positive experience of your well being. Check with your doctor to be sure.

It has not been proven that a tanning session in a tanning bed is a proven treatment for SAD. But doctors are prescribing light therapy. Light therapy is a little bit different because if works on the body, and enters through the eyes as well. You do not want UV entering your eyes, and light therapy probably should not have UV rays associated with it. For specific information on light therapy, ask your doctor.

New studies are coming out all the time, and some doctor have even encouraged people to tan in a tanning bed once per week to treat depression. Again, speak with your doctor to be sure it’s right for you.

You may just need a face tanner. But to be sure ask your doctor.

When one asks, ‘what is the best indoor tanning lotion?’ The automatic reply is never a particular tanning bed lotion because it all depends upon ones skin type, tanning experience, and preferences.

For example, a person who has not tanned in a while should not use a lotion that intensifies the tan, or has tingle in it.

California Tan CT

However, a new tanner can use a lotion with bronzer in it. I would stick to a regular tanning bed lotion and then move up to a bronzer, but that’s my preference.

Experienced tanners are always looking for the best indoor tanning lotion that gets them even darker than before.

In either case, the best indoor tanning lotion will come from a good manufacturer of tanning bed lotions. And my recommendation is California Tan. I particularly like the X-Power and CT lines. X-Power has been around for a long time. CT.

Best Indoor Tanning Lotion For All Level Of Tanners:

CT Seven Maximizer – Maximum Tanning Lotion

X Power Step 1-2 (new tanners stick with level 1 for a while).

Want A Cheaper Lotion? Consider This One Instead…

Designer Skin Secret Rapture – Radiant Dark Tanning Nectar

Best Indoor Tanning Lotion For Experience Tanners Wanting A Deep Dark Tan:

CT Seven Bronzing Maximizer – Dark Bronzing Lotion

X Force Step 2

Tanning Bed Tip:

Do Not Use Regular Indoor Tanning Lotions on your face. Especially if they have a tingle or bronzer in them. Only use a Facial Tanning Lotion. These are specialty lotions specifically designed to help you tan your face.

CT Face

The Best Indoor Facial Tanning Lotion: CT-7 Face.

Here’s a secret that indoor tanning bed lotion companies don’t want you to know…

There’s really nothing the gets significantly better in terms of making your tan look better. Once a good lotion is produced, the only thing they really improve upon is the texture and smell of the lotion. All the other things like tingles, anti aging ingredients, and bronzer’s are all ‘bells and whistles’ that they must re formulate and repackage. In retail, the best selling lotions are always the NEW lotions with cool packaging, texture, and smell. If a lotion company sticks to the same lotions all the time they will lose market share. So they have to keep making up new stuff.

Bottom Line On The Best Cheap and Expensive Lotions…

So the best indoor tanning lotion is most of the $30-$70 (retail) lotions made by California Tan. I recommend CT-7 or X-Power. But if you want a cheaper lotion that will get you really tan and make your skin look good go with: Designer Skin. Supre, and Devoted Creations also have good lotions for the price.

The reason I like California Tan is because the results are really good, every product they make is excellent: spray tanning, moisturizers, outdoor lotions, and indoor tanning lotions.

The main thing I want you to take away from here is Not to go for new stuff all the time. It’s usually more expensive, and there is rarely a difference from the older lotions like X-Power except for packaging, texture, and smell.

The Best Rated Tanning Lotions:

The best rated tanning lotions for indoor tanning and outdoor tanning will vary from person to person.

On our indoor tanning lotions review page you will find many different lotions that customers like. And you can’t really go wrong with their recommendations.

But with 8 years in the tanning salon business I can honestly say that the best rated tanning lotions are made by California Tan. And not necessarily the new ones either!

The older indoor tanning lotions are the best rated ones because when they first came out they were really expensive, and they worked really well. But they are still very good.

The new lotions simply have a new smell, packaging, and a couple of ingredients that make them sound amazing but really aren’t very important.

California Tan X Power

So the best indoor tanning lotions, in my view are California Tan X Power with or without bronzer. Don’t waste your time searching for anything else because you won’t find anything better.

You might find a nicer smelling lotion or one that looks really cool, but that’s all you are getting.

Other best rated tanning lotions include Designer Skin, Supre, and many others. Like I said, stick with the Cal Tan X Power series. You can’t go wrong.

For the best outdoor tanning lotions, you can also choose California Tan. All of their lotions are top quality.

But if you want to try something different, effective, and it does not have any SPF Maui Baby is really good. Warning: This is a pure tanning lotion. There is no SPF.

Do not use outdoor tanning lotion in a tanning bed. It ruins tanning beds. The oils get into the tiny cracks, makes the worse, and discolors them. Secondly, outdoor tanning lotion does not work well in a tanning bed. Indoor tanning bed lotions are formulated to work with the high intensity tanning bed bulbs. Conversely, don’t use indoor tanning lotion for outdoor tanning.

So to sum it up, the best indoor tanning bed lotions are X Power. The best outdoor lotions are also anything made by California Tan, but you should buy Maui Babe because it’s cheaper and awesome.

I hope this article helped you save some time and money!
